Short Bio:

Dr. ArunKumar Sivaraman is an academic and research professional with over 15 years of experience across higher education, research centres, and industries in India, Canada, Oman, UK, and USA. He joined Gulf College in 2025 as an Assistant Professor, where he is responsible for planning and delivering modules aligned with learning outcomes, developing teaching and assessment materials, supervising student projects, and applying innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and independent learning. He also contributes to curriculum improvement, programme reviews, moderation, and quality assurance processes, while integrating research-informed practice into teaching.

He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering (Specialized in Robotics & Machine Intelligence) from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (Govt.) in 2018. He completed his Master of Engineering in Computer Science from Anna University (CEG, Guindy Campus – QS Rank 465) in 2010 and his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Anna University in 2006. In addition, he holds an MBA in Educational Management from Alagappa University and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), reflecting strong competence in both academic leadership and research project delivery.

Dr. Arun has contributed extensively to R&D initiatives in Robotics and Machine Intelligence and has led and supported funded research projects in applied artificial intelligence. He previously served at Algoma University Canada as a Research Scientist, Photon Infotech Canada & USA as a Project Manager, Cognizant Technology Solution India as a Lead Data Analyst and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT University – QS Rank 691) India as an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade). He is an active board member of the Robotics Research Center at Esckimo  Robotics Inc., USA & Canada, and serves as an external research contributor at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), United Kingdom and Algoma University Canada. His research team has secured competitive funding of approximately 300K USD from international bodies such as MITACS (Canada), OMAFRA (Canada), and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI), Oman, focusing on addressing national priorities through machine intelligence solutions.

He has published over 50 research papers in reputed Scopus and SCI-indexed journals, with research outputs reported in Q1/Q2-ranked venues, and he has authored books in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data with Taylor & Francis / CRC Press. His scholarly work has attracted over 900+ citations in Scopus and more than 1,500 citations in Google Scholar, with an h-index of 21. He also holds five patents registered across the UK, Canada, and Australia in the domain of applied machine intelligence, demonstrating practical innovation alongside academic contributions.

Dr. Arun actively contributes to the global research community through editorial and peer-review activities and international academic service. He serves as an invited reviewer for journals published by Elsevier, Wiley, MDPI, and Springer (WOS/SCI indexed), and he is a Technical Committee Member for IEEE conferences. He also participates in international doctoral committees and editorial roles, and holds membership in professional bodies including the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and the IEEE Quantum Technical Community, while also engaging in board activities associated with the IEEE Toronto Section in Canada.

His technical expertise includes machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud computing, and database systems, with experience in developing predictive models and decision-support solutions across agriculture, healthcare, disaster management, and smart city applications. Alongside technical leadership, he has successfully led multidisciplinary teams, managed international research grants, supervised postgraduate research, and supported institutional quality assurance and academic development initiatives.
