Dr. Bacem Mbarek is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences at Gulf College, Oman, where he also serves as Postgraduate Research and Dissertation Project Coordinator. Prior to joining Gulf College, he was Assistant Professor and Senior Researcher at the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University from 2018 to June 2024. Since 2022, he has also been serving as an External Professor (Flying Lecturer) at the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech), where he collaborates closely with the Department of Computer Science and is the main lecturer of the Blockchain course. He was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Bordeaux from 2014 to 2015 and received his PhD in 2017 from the National School of Engineering of Tunis.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Bacem serves as Guest Editor of the MDPI journal Technologies 2025–2026 Special Issue entitled “Application and Management of Blockchain Technologies,” and he is a Session Chair at ICSEDI’26. He has published numerous scientific papers in high-level and high-ranked international conferences and journals and is actively involved in European and international research projects, as well as standardization initiatives. His main research interests include blockchain technologies, network security, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
