Vinden Wylde is a researcher and lecturer specialising in AI, cybersecurity, and data privacy. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals, Springer book chapters, and international conferences, with his work addressing the ethical, legal, and technical challenges of emerging technologies. Since 2019, he has been undertaking doctoral research in Big Data, AI, and Visualisation, developing privacy-centric frameworks that integrate governance, compliance, and innovation.
Alongside his research, Wylde has taught a wide portfolio of computing and information systems subjects, including programming, software development, information security, and project management. He has also designed and delivered digital skills and AI workshops for schools, libraries, and community organisations, reflecting his commitment to widening participation and public engagement. His previous professional experience in project delivery and compliance has informed his applied approach to data governance and technological ethics.
Wylde regularly presents at international and UK-based conferences, and his editorial contributions include co-authoring The Future of Money, a public scholarship article on digital currency and trust in collaboration. His research philosophy is grounded in bridging theory and practice, with an emphasis on socially responsible technology that empowers individuals and communities.
Teaching Philosophy: Wylde believes in integrating research, teaching, and community engagement as complementary pillars of academic practice. He emphasises inquiry-led learning, encouraging students to explore the intersections of technology, ethics, and governance while applying theory to real-world challenges. His teaching approach is student-centred and collaborative, aiming to build critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and engagement with industry, government, and community partners to ensure that students graduate with skills and insights that have meaningful societal impact.
