Clarivate Holds a Research Webinar for GC Staff
A 2-hour research webinar titled “The Role of Patents in Encouraging Innovation in Academia” was held on Wednesday, 09/02/2022 at 11:00 am. The purpose of the session was to educate the research community at Gulf College about patents. The webinar included the following sub-topics:

- How does a patent differ from other intellectual property rights, e.g., copyright, trademarks, and industrial secrets?
- A comparison between scientific publications and patents
- A case study of university patenting
- How does the patent filing system work?
- How do you read a patent document?
- How are patents useful to universities in their research and development pathway?
