Muscat – Gulf College convened the second meeting of its Board of Trustees on Monday, 12 May 2025, with the esteemed members of the Board in attendance. The meeting addressed several strategic topics reflecting the College’s commitment to enhancing educational quality and institutional effectiveness.
The session began with a welcome and words of appreciation delivered by Dr Issa Al Balushi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who praised the pivotal role played by the Board of Trustees in supporting the College’s journey and achieving its future aspirations. This was followed by an opening address by Professor Dr Taher Baomar, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who underscored the importance of continuous institutional review and sustainable development.
The agenda included a declaration of any conflict of interest, in line with principles of transparency and good governance, followed by the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and a review of progress made on its decisions.
The Board reviewed a comprehensive report on the College’s progress and ongoing preparations for institutional reaccreditation and Programme Standards Accreditation (PSA), in addition to updates on the status of programme accreditation.
The meeting also covered the progress of the operational plan for the Autumn semester of Academic Year 2024–2025 and included a summary of key achievements, initiatives, and milestones accomplished during the previous semester, reflecting the College’s commitment to strategic implementation.
In terms of governance, the Board approved a number of new and revised institutional policies in alignment with regulatory requirements and internal development needs.
Additionally, the Board reviewed the academic results statistics for the Autumn semester of AY 2024–2025, which provided a key indicator of student academic performance and continuous improvement in programme quality.
The meeting concluded with the approval of the Academic Calendar for AY 2025–2026, and an open floor was provided for final comments from the Board members.
This meeting reaffirmed the crucial role of the Board of Trustees in shaping the strategic direction of Gulf College and supporting its vision and mission in education, research, and community engagement.
