Short Bio:

Dr. S. Sebastin Antony Joe is an Assistant Professor and Programme Leader for Computer Science & pathway Programmes affiliated with Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK) at Gulf College, Sultanate of Oman.

Holding a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, India (2018), along with a Master’s (2005) and Bachelor’s (2003) in the same field, completed with first-class, Dr. Sebastin brings a strong educational foundation to his role. With over Nineteen (19) years in academia, he has established himself as a committed and innovative educator specializing in Networking, the Internet of Things and Cyber Security. Dr. Sebastin’s expertise is validated by his CCNA™ certification and various Cisco Networking Academy certifications.

As Programme Leader at the Department of Computing Sciences, at Gulf College, Dr. Sebastin oversees curriculum development, ensures program quality, and fosters international academic partnerships. His leadership extends to previous roles, including Dean at Annai Vailankanni College of Engineering and Director of Research and Training at James College of Engineering. In addition to his administrative roles, Dr. Sebastin has actively participated in professional and academic communities and he is a member of Gulf College’s Academic Board.

Dr. Sebastin has published numerous research papers in leading international journals, many of which are indexed in Scopus. He holds six patents, authored a book and secured research grants from Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) demonstrating his innovative thinking in educational technology. He has also presented his work at various international conferences, where he has often been invited as a keynote speaker. His commitment to professional development is evident through participation in workshops on emerging technologies like cyber security, IoT & Internet-of-Drones. As a resource person, he has conducted workshops on AI-driven IoT, AI & Cyber Security, Enterprise Network Design, LAN Networking Fundamentals, etc.

Dr. Sebastin’s affiliations with professional organizations such as IEEE, ISTE, and CSTA reflect his commitment to staying current in his field. His multicultural experience, gained from working in India and Oman, brings a global perspective to his teaching and research.

Dr. Sebastin is a multifaceted academic professional with a strong foundation in Computer Science and Engineering. His innovative approach to education, research acumen, and industry-relevant skills make him a valuable asset to higher learning institutions and a role model for students in the field of computing sciences.
